Our client has been in healthcare communications and training for over 20 years, and is rapidly growing. They are seeking a seasoned Account Director to help their growing team located in the heart of Monmouth County.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$130k – $150k
Position Overview:
The Account Director will be instrumental in propelling the company’s sales initiatives by securing new clients and growing existing accounts. This field-based role necessitates travel and encompasses the development and implementation of sales strategies, the cultivation of client relationships, and the attainment of revenue goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales background, exceptional communication abilities, and extensive knowledge of the learning and development sector.
Responsibilities of the Account Director:
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research on industry, client assets, and pipeline trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. Collaborate with the VP, ID, to stay updated on the latest technology options for clients. Analyze sales data to identify patterns and inform strategies. Provide feedback for unique services based on market and client insights.
- Sales Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive sales plans, including target segments, clients, brands, and forecasting. Implement initiatives to drive growth and achieve revenue targets. Regularly adjust strategies based on market trends and performance data.
- Client Acquisition: Identify and target potential clients. Generate and qualify leads through networking, referrals, cold calling, and digital marketing. Maintain a robust sales pipeline and track leads via CRM. Conduct research to understand client needs. Develop and execute outreach strategies.
- Sales Presentations: Prepare and deliver tailored presentations and proposals. Leverage internal experts, especially in Instructional Design. Provide timely follow-up and respond to client inquiries.
- Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and service agreements with Finance. Overcome objections and close deals. Ensure accurate and timely completion of contractual documentation.
- Sales Reporting: Track and report sales performance metrics. Update CRM weekly. Prepare detailed sales reports and presentations. Use data-driven insights to optimize processes.
- Project Set-up and Hand-off: Own relationship with the overall client. Client Service owns sold project(s). Create detailed briefings for Client Service and Operations with support from Instructional Design and Content. Participate in internal and client kick-off meetings. Conduct periodic check-ins and participate in Client Health Report briefings.
- Client Relationship Building and Retention: Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers. Act as a trusted advisor providing strategic direction. Uncover new sales opportunities. Schedule regular check-ins to maintain engagement and satisfaction. Collaborate with Client Service and Operations for ongoing support.
- Sales Management: Attend monthly sales meetings to share proposals and best practices. Meet monthly with Sales Leadership to review pipeline reports. Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects. Collaborate with internal team members. Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Required Experience/Skills for the Account Director:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Account Director:
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Pharmaceutical/life science experience.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
