Accounting Manager

Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed technology start-up. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$90k – $120k

Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Reporting to the CFO, this role will help build scalable accounting processes, support compliance, and partner cross-functionally to deliver insights that drive decision-making. Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:

• Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and leadership to provide financial insights and reporting.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee private equity–related reporting requirements (management reports, KPIs, investor requests).
• Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
• Lead process improvements, automation, and accounting system enhancements.
• Support special projects, including M&A activities and system implementations.

Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting Manager:

• 5 – 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proven experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounting Manager:

• Experience in a technology company, SaaS, or private equity–backed organization.
• Background in implementing new systems, processes, and internal controls.
• Experience with M&A, integrations, or rapid scaling environments.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
