Client Overview:

Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting its community and driving meaningful impact through various programs and initiatives. They are currently looking to add an Accounting Specialist to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$23hr – $26/hr Based on experience

Position Overview:

The Accounting Specialist will report to the Executive Accounting Team and play a hands-on role in managing the organization’s financial operations. This position is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, endowment administration, and related accounting functions.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist:

  • Process and record all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related transactions accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and reconcile deposits, credit card payments, and other contributions.
  • Maintain vendor files, enforce dual signatory requirements, and support monthly tax filings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on expense reports, program budgets, and accounting inquiries.
  • Assist with preparing annual reports, such as 1099s, and other financial documentation.

Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting Specialist:

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Four or more years of bookkeeping, accounts payable, or accounts receivable experience (may substitute for educational requirement).
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, and accounting principles.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounting Specialist:

  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree is preferred.
