Client Overview:
Our client is a long-standing and well-respected global engineering & technology company based out of New Jersey. They deliver complex systems and solutions to support large-scale operations across a variety of industries and are looking to add an exceptional Accounts Payable Analyst to their fast-paced, high-performing Finance team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$28/hr
Position Overview:
This is not your typical Accounts Payable Analyst position. Applicants must be sharp, detail-obsessed professionals who thrive on organization, take initiative, and are true Excel power users. The Accounts Payable Analyst will play a critical role in managing the team’s AP communications, coordinating invoice assignments, and ensuring vendors are handled accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Analyst:
- Monitor and manage the shared AP inbox, triaging incoming invoices and vendor queries to appropriate team members.
- Act as a central point of coordination between Finance, Procurement, and Operations teams to ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time.
- Process assigned vendor invoices, ensuring correct coding, approvals, and timely entry into the system.
- Perform account reconciliations and sub-ledger work to maintain accuracy across AP records.
- Use advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, filters, conditional logic, etc.) for tracking, reporting, and data validation tasks.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies or vendor payment issues.
- Assist with month-end closing tasks, including accruals and AP aging reports.
- Maintain organized documentation and support internal audits or compliance reviews as needed.
- Continuously identify process improvements and automation opportunities.
Required Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable Analyst:
- 2+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or general accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a must – you should be fluent in VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and Excel formulas.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, team-first mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable Analyst:
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Experience working on the general ledger.
- High volume Accounts Payable experience or equivalent knowledge.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
