Client Overview:
Our client, a mission-driven national nonprofit organization, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support its growing finance department. This is an excellent opportunity to join an organization dedicated to advancing human rights while working fully remotely with a collaborative team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$34.49/hr
Position Overview:
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for high-volume invoice processing, vendor communications, and ensuring accurate and timely payments. The ideal candidate has strong nonprofit AP experience, proficiency with Bill.com, and the ability to maintain compliance with organizational and grant funding requirements. This role is a temporary to permanent role.
Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Process and audit invoices with accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure correct coding of expenses across multiple cost centers and funding streams.
- Manage vendor setup, communications, and issue resolution.
- Process 1099s and maintain compliance with IRS and organizational standards.
- Prepare AP-related reports as needed for management review.
- Collaborate with finance and program teams to resolve discrepancies.
Required Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable Specialist:
- 5 – 10+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Bill.com.
- Prior experience in a nonprofit environment required.
- Familiarity with 1099 processing.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in invoice auditing.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fully remote setting.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Experience with multi-level general ledger coding and funder compliance.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
