Client Overview:
Our client, a growing real estate organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Affordable Housing Lease-Up Compliance Specialist to support a large residential lease-up initiative. This role will focus heavily on compliance review, documentation accuracy, and regulatory adherence during the initial occupancy phase. The ideal candidate has a background in affordable housing compliance and understands lease-up processes within regulated housing programs.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$20/hr – $24/hr
Position Overview:
The Affordable Housing Lease-Up Compliance Specialist will assist with reviewing applicant documentation, verifying eligibility, and maintaining audit-ready files in accordance with housing regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage high volumes of documentation while meeting strict compliance deadlines. Candidates must be comfortable working onsite in both Queens and Manhattan offices.
Responsibilities of the Affordable Housing Lease-Up Compliance Specialist:
- Review and process applicant files for affordable housing eligibility.
- Verify income, assets, and household documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all documentation meets program guidelines (LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, HPD, HDC, etc.).
- Maintain organized and audit-ready compliance files.
- Enter and update applicant data in property management and compliance systems.
- Coordinate with leasing and property management teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Track compliance milestones to support timely lease-up goals.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality and regulatory standards.
Required Experience/Skills for the Affordable Housing Lease-Up Compliance Specialist:
- Prior affordable housing compliance experience is required.
- Strong understanding of lease-up processes and regulated housing programs.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation review.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be available to work onsite in both Queens and Manhattan.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Affordable Housing Lease-Up Compliance Specialist:
- Experience with Yardi or other compliance/property management systems.
- Familiarity with LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, NYC HPD, or HDC programs.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
