Our client, a leading service provider based in the United States, specializing in commercial restoration, construction, and roofing services. Their clientele includes some of the most prominent commercial portfolio owners and operators globally, both domestically and internationally. They are seeking a Assistant Controller to join their team!
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$100,000 – $125,000 + Bonus
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing project cost accounting activities within the organization. This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. The Assistant Controller will lead a team of cost accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to budgetary constraints, and implementation of robust internal controls.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:
- Lead and mentor a team of 8 cost accountants
- Prepare and analyze project-related financial statements
- Oversee project cost budgets and monitor actual costs against budgeted amounts
- Establish and maintain internal controls over project cost accounting processes
- Liaise with internal and external auditors during financial audits
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of project cost accounting activities
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
- CPA designation required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project cost accounting
- Prior audit experience, preferably from a Big 4 accounting firm, strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- Master’s degree is preferred
