Our client, a growing healthcare-focused organization in NYC, is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Billing & Claims Specialist to join their team. $30/hr
Position Overview:
As a Billing & Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims and invoices. You will manage everything from insurance verifications to working with Medicaid and Medicare systems, while keeping account balances current and organized. You will work closely with internal teams and external payers to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Responsibilities of the Billing & Claims Specialist:
- Submit billing files to various payers accurately and on time.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits across private and public providers.
- Maintain and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Process invoices for contracts and private pay clients.
- Send monthly private pay invoices to patients and escalate overdue claims to collections when needed.
- Communicate with Managed Care Insurance companies to confirm benefit coverage.
- Use electronic claim systems to check Medicaid and Medicare coverage.
- Navigate platforms such as EMDEON and the Florida Share System to review claim statuses and coverage.
- Keep billing records organized and updated across all systems.
Required Experience/Skills for the Billing & Claims Specialist:
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing or healthcare claims.
- Hands-on experience using EMDEON Assist.
- Strong working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing.
- Familiarity with the Florida Share System.
- Great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple billing tasks.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Billing & Claims Specialist:
- Experience with both private and government payers.
- Background in healthcare administration or medical office support.
- Certification in medical billing is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Certification or training in billing or medical office management is preferred.
