Client Overview:

Our client is a leading fashion accessories company specializing in trend-driven, high-volume products for major retailers across North America. With a strong presence in the cold weather, handbag, and fashion accessory categories, their design-driven team is known for translating market trends into commercially successful, retailer-specific collections. Their clients include top-tier retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Kohl’s, and they pride themselves on a fast-paced, collaborative, and style-forward culture. Our client is seeking a Cold Weather Accessories Designer for a temp-to-perm opportunity.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$30/hr – $35/hr
$90k if converted

Position Overview:

This Cold Weather Accessories Designer role is fully in-office and ideal for a designer with strong market awareness, CAD skills, and direct experience designing for mass retailers, specifically Wal-Mart. They will partner with internal teams, including Sales, Product Development, and Production, to ensure the product aligns with buyer needs and brand direction.

Responsibilities of the Cold Weather Accessories Designer:

  • Design cold-weather accessories such as hats, gloves, and scarves across multiple categories and brands.
  • Create and update detailed CADs and tech packs for development and production.
  • Research seasonal trends, materials, and color palettes appropriate for the mass market.
  • Attend fittings and assist in sample reviews and revisions.
  • Maintain design boards, line sheets, and presentation materials for buyer meetings.

Required Experience/Skills for the Cold Weather Accessories Designer:

  • 2 – 5+ years of design experience, specifically in cold-weather accessories.
  • Must have experience designing for Wal-Mart or similar mass-market retailers.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Basic CAD experience required.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Cold Weather Accessories Designer:

  • Strong understanding of trend, color, and material development.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
