Salary/Hourly Rate:
$115k – $125k
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to take full ownership of the accounting and finance function, leading both day-to-day operations and long-term planning. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with a fast-track path to a permanent leadership role. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with strong full-cycle accounting experience, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to financial management in a fast-paced environment. The Controller reports directly to the COO and plays a critical part in the company’s financial strategy and decision-making.
Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting function: AP, AR, GL, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Manage banking relationships, tax filings, and audit preparation.
- Implement internal controls and process improvements.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making with executive leadership.
- Take ownership of financial operations previously handled by the outgoing team.
- Serve as the key finance leader within the organization.
Required Experience/Skills for the Controller:
- 5 – 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- CPA certification is required.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to operate independently and engage confidently with executive leadership.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Controller:
- Experience in the tech, media, or gaming industry.
- Familiarity with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Prior experience in entrepreneurial or high-growth environments.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- CPA is required.
