Our client is a rapidly expanding manufacturing organization that is seeking to add a new member to its growing team by hiring a Cost Accountant. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$85k – 105k+ Depending on experience
Position Overview:
The Cost Accountant plays a key part in supporting the success of a high-performing team. The position is responsible for executing core responsibilities that contribute to broader organizational goals while promoting efficiency and operational excellence. The Cost Accountant is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, with a focus on cost accounting, inventory management, and fixed asset reporting.
Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant:
- Oversee and reconcile purchase orders, inventory receipts, and supplier credits to ensure accuracy and proper cost allocation.
- Monitor inventory movements and deliveries, verifying quantities, pricing, and vendor compliance with purchase agreements.
- Conduct inventory valuation and cost analysis, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform periodic inventory audits to validate counts, assess variances, and identify cost improvement opportunities.
- Maintain and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), purchase price variances, and inventory adjustments.
- Collaborate with Operations and Procurement to ensure accurate and timely recording of material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Support the month-end and year-end inventory close and reconciliation processes.
- Develop and maintain standard costing models to evaluate production efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to purchasing, inventory, and cost accounting procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams to achieve departmental and company-wide objectives.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders and team members.
Required Experience/Skills for the Cost Accountant:
- Proven ability within a cost accounting or accounting position within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Relevant hands-on experience aligned with the role’s core functions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Cost Accountant:
- Familiarity with SAP (or other ERPs).
- Extensive Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s minimum skillset).
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
