They have a friendly but fast paced environment that will challenge a Formulation Chemist to perform at their highest level of success. The company produces brand name products for a variety of sectors in the personal care and consumer goods industries.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
Up to $60,000 depending on relevant, recent industry experience
Position Overview:
This Formulation Chemist position is currently available for a permanent/direct hire opportunity that is onsite 5 days a week. The Formulation Chemist position is ideal for an experienced lab technician who has prior experience creating batches of personal care products and is looking for the next step in their career. An example of the products this role will be working with are shampoos, conditioners, gels, foundations, lotions, sunscreens or other related goods products. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute their skills and collaborate with many team members in a highly professional environment.
Responsibilities of the Formulation Chemist:
- Formulating, research, testing, stability, troubleshooting in regards to the development of new personal care products
- Developing batches from scratch, improving on existing batches of hair care products
- Creative problem solving and collaborations, in particular with the Raw Materials team, to identify and utilize unique raw materials in new products and when updating existing products
- Juggling multiple projects with ease
- Easily interacting and collaborating with team members as well as the pilot plant to ensure easy scale up of products
- Strictly adhering to a cGMP environment and following necessary safety protocols
- Communicating and acting in a highly professional manner at all times
- Following correct channels to address technical, or other, issues in or supporting the lab work
- Maintain a highly organized and accurate lab notebook of all work completed
Qualifications for the Formulation Chemist:
- Industry experience working with personal care or cosmetics products- developing or adjusting formulations or doing batch work offering an understanding of formulation of products
- Expertise in chemistry, understanding surface-interface properties and surface characterization
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to share and teach in the area of expertise
- Creativity and self-motivated that will prove successful in an environment where one needs to be able to think out of the box
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or Cosmetic Science or related is required
