Position Overview:

The Junior Accountant will support the accounting team by preparing, maintaining, and reconciling financial records and assisting with daily and monthly accounting processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant:

  • Prepare and record journal entries.
  • Process and reconcile sales and cash receipts; prepare bank deposits.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to bank statements.
  • Assist with state and local tax filings (sales/use tax and other business filings).
  • Review expense reports and assist with disbursements.
  • Support month-end close activities, account analysis, and special projects.
  • Maintain accurate accounting files and documentation.
  • Assist with audit preparation and inventory processes.
  • Provide support to the accounting staff and management as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Junior Accountant:

  • 0 – 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Junior Accountant:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP/accounting systems.
  • Prior experience assisting with audits or tax filings.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
