Our client is a law firm looking to add a Legal Assistant to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$75k – $85k, Depending on experience 

Position Overview:

The Legal Assistant will be responsible for secretarial and administrative support of attorneys and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant: 

  • Provide administrative support to assigned attorneys.
  • Prepare legal documents, forms, letters, memoranda, and reports using current digital technology and applications.
  • Maintain attorney diaries by scheduling appointments and time-sensitive due dates while considering court rules or other requirements.
  • Assist in the scheduling of court, client, and other appointments.
  • Open new files and complete related paperwork.
  • Open, scan, log, sort, and distribute incoming mail and prepare all outgoing mail or hand deliveries.
  • Maintain case files by filing necessary information according to document or other instructions.
  • Answer phones, screen, and direct calls for attorneys.
  • Enter and edit attorney timesheets according to the time entry policy and procedure.
  • Assist in the preparation of pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Electronically file legal documents with courts.

Required Experience/Skills for the Legal Assistant:

  • Experience with 9A filings (MUST HAVE).
  • 1 – 2 years of relevant Legal Admin experience. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF software.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with and take direction from multiple individuals.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Reliable with a professional demeanor.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Legal Assistant:

  • Experience with document management software is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
