We are partnered with an organization that is an energetic and extremely collaborative place to work. They are in the real estate space, with a robust portfolio throughout the country. Our client is currently looking to add a Legal Billing Specialist to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$70k – $90k
Position Overview:
The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of collections matters, including pre-litigation efforts, active litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, and post-judgment enforcement.
Responsibilities of the Legal Billing Specialist:
- The Legal Billing Specialist will draft, review, and manage pleadings, motions, complaints, affidavits, proofs of claim, and other court-related filings.
- Prepare exhibits, supporting documentation, and damages calculations for court submissions and trial preparation.
- Track and manage litigation calendars, including deadlines, hearings, and appearances.
- Coordinate closely with internal business teams and outside counsel to ensure efficient matter progression.
- The Legal Billing Specialist will attend court proceedings and provide testimony when required.
- Maintain accurate, well-organized electronic and physical case files.
- Prepare legal correspondence, internal reports, and status updates on matters.
- Review legal documents and recommend appropriate next steps or escalation strategies.
- The Legal Billing Specialist will conduct asset and financial research to support judgment enforcement activities.
- Receive, distribute, and archive legal mail and court documents.
- Draft and issue demand letters, default notices, payment agreements, settlement documents, and related correspondence.
- Partner with internal departments to investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and payment disputes.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with tenants, internal stakeholders, and external legal counsel.
Required Experience/Skills for the Legal Billing Specialist:
- 3+ years supporting collections, litigations, and/or bankruptcy matters
- Strong working knowledge of court procedures, legal drafting, and document management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and legal case management systems.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Legal Billing Specialist:
- Experience supporting commercial retail real estate matters.
- Prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
Education Requirements:
- Associate’s degree is required.
- A Paralegal certificate or a degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant, or a related field is preferred.
