Our client, a growing financial consulting firm for the healthcare industry, is seeking a Medical Collector to join their growing Accounts Receivable and Revenue Cycle department. The Medical Collector is a quintessential people person who loves coming up with new ideas, has a customer service approach, and is goal-oriented.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20/hr – $23/hr

Position Overview:

This Medical Collector will be joining the cohesive Revenue Cycle team, reporting directly to the Manager, and responsible for the complete collections process, mainly insurance-based. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a Medical Collector professional to jump start their career with a growing and developing firm in Tampa Bay.

Responsibilities of the Medical Collector:

  • Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts.
  • Perform follow-up activities promptly on all accounts to ensure prompt payment.
  • Identify coding or billing problems from EOBs and work to correct the errors on time. Review denials as they come in to monitor trends.
  • Prepare accounts for rebilling and filing of secondary insurance. Send to the carrier with necessary documents, as needed.
  • Complete and file appeals to different payers for the center for short payments and/or denials.
  • Update the patient account record to identify actions taken on the account.
  • Investigate historical data for each debt or bill.
  • Find and contact patients to ask about their overdue payments.
  • Take actions to encourage timely debt payments.
  • Assist with payment posting and refunds.
  • Resolve billing and customer credit issues.
  • Update account status records and collection efforts.
  • Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status.

Qualifications for the Medical Collector:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Medical Collections (Insurance collections).
  • Working experience with denial management, appeals, and ICD-10 is required.
  • Proficient in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, and formulas).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Positive and willingness to help.
  • Ambitious and eager to grow with the company.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or higher is preferred, but not required for this position.
