Client Overview:

Our client is a growing materials company focused on sustainable manufacturing and next-generation material science. They are now looking for a Plant Technical Specialist.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$25/hr – $30/hr

Position Overview:

The Plant Technical Specialist will support production and lab testing at a partner facility in MA. The Plant Technical Specialist will be responsible for routine lab testing, process monitoring, and coordination with plant operators to ensure smooth production operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, routine technical work and is reliable in a manufacturing environment. The role involves working 12-hour shifts, 12 – 13 days a month.

Responsibilities of the Plant Technical Specialist:

  • Conduct routine lab tests, including viscosity, percent solids, conductivity, and pH on production materials.
  • Calibrate instruments and ensure testing accuracy.
  • Collaborate with plant operators to monitor materials and process temperatures.
  • Communicate test results and report any unusual readings or issues to the operations manager.
  • Support production runs 12 – 13 days per month, maintaining approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Attend training in NJ as needed for additional site support.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, adhering to plant safety guidelines.
  • Serve as the on-site Plant Technical Specialist contact, coordinating with remote team members and engineers as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Plant Technical Specialist:

  • Comfortable working in a plant environment that can be hot, cold, and dusty.
  • Ability to perform repetitive but precise work reliably and safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical or technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and with plant staff under limited supervision.
  • Reliable, disciplined, and comfortable with hands-on tasks.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Plant Technical Specialist:

  • Prior experience in lab testing, chemical manufacturing, utilities, or the military.
  • Background in wet chemistry, boiler testing, or plant operations.
  • Experience recognizing and troubleshooting basic equipment or testing issues.

Education Requirements:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
  • Certificate program or equivalent technical experience accepted.
