Client Overview:
Our client, a highly regarded corporate communications agency serving clients in finance, technology, and professional services, is seeking a proactive and organized PR Coordinator to join their NYC-based team. Known for its strategic media relations work and C-suite advisory, the firm offers an excellent training ground for communication professionals with an interest in reputation management and business media. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$26/hr – $30/hr Depending on experience
Position Overview:
The PR Coordinator will support Account teams in executing public relations strategies, managing media outreach, and coordinating communications deliverables. The ideal PR Coordinator will have 1 – 3 years of experience, a strong writing background, and a sharp understanding of current events and business trends. The PR Coordinator will work directly with account leads to track coverage, prepare materials, and contribute to day-to-day client service.
Responsibilities of the PR Coordinator:
- Draft media materials, including press releases, pitch letters, talking points, and briefing documents.
- Build and update media lists focused on business and financial press.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare regular reports for client teams.
- Support client meetings by coordinating agendas, follow-ups, and presentation prep.
- Assist senior staff with proactive media outreach and journalist engagement.
- Coordinate logistics and deliverables for press events and speaking opportunities.
- Act as a resourceful and responsive PR Coordinator across multiple client accounts.
Required Experience/Skills for the PR Coordinator:
- 1 – 3 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or journalism.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a business-focused voice.
- Familiarity with PR tools such as Muck Rack, Cision, or Meltwater.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communication style and professional presence in client interactions.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the PR Coordinator:
- Experience with media relations in finance, B2B, or technology sectors.
- Understanding of the corporate news cycle and key outlets (Bloomberg, WSJ, CNBC, etc.).
- Interest in thought leadership, executive visibility, and issues management.
- Experience working in an agency or fast-paced PR setting.
- Visual skills for media recaps, decks, or data visualization are a plus.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required.
