Client Overview:

Our client is a research university based in New York City, known for its strong academic tradition, commitment to social justice, and global outlook. Our client is seeking an experienced Program Assistant to join their team on a short-term contract basis.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$25/hr – $30/hr DOE

Position Overview:

This Program Assistant position is a high-level administrative role. The Program Assistant will be responsible for scheduling, creating onboarding materials, and leading registration. Additionally, the Program Assistant will work closely with the Community-Engaged Learning team to support their initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Program Assistant:

  • Prepare program materials (guides, lists, presentations) and support basic purchasing and space reservations.
  • Support Community Engaged Learning planning and operations (registration, partner coordination, transportation, and materials).
  • Coordinate various community-based projects (registration, booking transportation, ordering materials).

Required Experience/Skills for the Program Assistant:

  • Experience in higher education, community engagement/service-learning, or nonprofit settings.
  • Prior experience in volunteer coordination
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Program Assistant:

  • Prior event planning experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with community needs assessment, social justice, and critical reflection practices. 

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
