Our client, a mid-size commercial and residential property management company with their corporate office based downtown in Boston, is looking for a Property Accountant to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60,000 – $80,000 based on experience

Position Overview:

The Property Accountant will be responsible for all balance sheet and bank reconciliations, preparing financial statements, preparing budgets, journal entries, variance analysis and managing cash receipts and disbursements. The Property Accountant will report to the Controller.

Responsibilities of the Property Accountant:

  • Month and Quarter end close out preparation for each property
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports, and yearly audits
  • Reviewing accounts payable, and processing corporate entity cash receipts
  • Reviewing income statements for each property and verifying account balance sheets and expenses
  • Bank reconciliations and weekly cash reports, completing general ledger journal entries
  • Setting and updating budgets and forecasts with variances
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications for the Property Accountant:

  • 5+ years accounting experience with strong GAAP understanding
  • Property Accounting experience preferred
  • Strong background in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Ability to meet accounting department calendar deadlines
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume transactions in a fast-paced office environment
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
  • Able to collaborate and work in a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and multitask, while remaining detail oriented and produce results
  • Payroll and/or Hospitality accounting experience preferred

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting or Finance is required
