Our client, an NYC based nonprofit company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

Up to $90,000+

Position Overview:

As a Senior Accountant at the nonprofit organization, you will be an integral part of our financial team, overseeing critical accounting functions and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and analyzing financial statements, and supporting the organization’s fiscal health.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards
  • Budget Oversight: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, providing insightful variance analysis and recommendations to senior management
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets, ensuring accurate financial records
  • Audit Support: Facilitate annual audits, coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and schedules
  • Grants and Funds Management: Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and compliance requirements, ensuring accurate reporting to funding agencies
  • Compliance and Policies: Stay updated with accounting regulations and ensure the organization’s adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and internal policies
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Public accounting or CPA is a major plus

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related fields is required
