Our client, a rapidly growing financial services firm headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$90k – $100k

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This Senior Accountant role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with accounting standards, improving processes, and supporting the company’s overall financial health.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaids.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to ensure proper accounting for transactions.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:

  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • 3 – 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
