Our client, a well-established real estate organization located in Manhattan, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team. This Senior Accountant opportunity offers exposure to large-scale projects, collaboration with Finance leadership, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment supporting high-profile assets and reporting initiatives.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$80k – $110k plus Bonus eligibility
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, daily and period-end accounting activities, general ledger analysis, cash management, and account reconciliations across a portfolio of commercial assets. This Senior Accountant role works closely with accounting and finance leadership to support monthly and quarterly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis used for company-wide reporting and planning. The ideal Senior Accountant is self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Assist in daily accounting activities and transaction processing.
- Review and analyze the general ledger and prepare accrual and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and account analyses.
- Perform financial statement analysis for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with accounting and finance leadership on monthly cash flow forecasting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end work paper packages.
- Assist in the preparation of investor and lender reporting packages.
- Support the preparation of annual audited financial statements on a GAAP and tax basis.
- Assist with annual budgets and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Create reporting templates and perform analysis using Excel and accounting systems.
- Participate in process improvement and system initiatives.
- Support ad hoc projects as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:
- Public accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting in a Senior Accountant role or a similar role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:
- CPA or active pursuit of a CPA certification.
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
