Salary/Hourly Rate:
$75k – $80k Annually
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and driven Senior Assistant Buyer to join our client’s dynamic Buying team. As a Senior Assistant Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Buyer in all aspects of the buying process. This includes developing seasonal product assortments, monitoring sales performance, managing vendor relationships, and assisting in creating the buying strategy to ensure that the product range meets the brand’s vision, target market, and commercial goals.
Responsibilities of the Senior Assistant Buyer:
- Support Buying Strategy: Assist the Buyer in defining and executing seasonal product strategies to align with the company’s sales and inventory objectives.
- Product Selection: Collaborate with the Buyer in selecting products for upcoming collections, keeping in mind market trends, sales data, and customer preferences.
- Vendor Relationships: Maintain and foster positive relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating terms, prices, and delivery schedules.
- Sales Analysis: Regularly analyze sales data, stock levels, and product performance to provide actionable insights and recommendations for restocking, markdowns, and new product introductions.
- Trend Research: Stay ahead of fashion trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to ensure the company’s offerings remain competitive and desirable.
- Order Management: Coordinate and track the ordering process, ensuring timely delivery and proper stock allocation to stores and online channels.
- Budget Management: Assist in the creation and management of the buying budget, ensuring profitability while maintaining a strong product offering.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising, to ensure seamless execution of product launches, campaigns, and promotions.
- Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring that stock levels are optimized across all channels, avoiding overstock or out-of-stock situations.
- Team Support: Mentor and guide Junior Buyers and Assistants, providing support and sharing knowledge to help develop the team.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Assistant Buyer:
- 2 – 4 years of experience in buying or a related role within the fashion industry.
- Strong understanding of product trends, market conditions, and customer behavior.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to analyze sales data and make strategic decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with buying software, and ERP systems is a plus.
