Our client is a consumer products company that specializes in cosmetics/personal care products. They are currently looking to expand their team by bringing on a Senior Chemist. They operate in a very fast-paced environment.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$75k – $85k
Position Overview:
The Senior Chemist will lead technical efforts in formulation, innovation, and scale-up of new and existing cosmetic products. This role includes hands-on development, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure successful project delivery and product quality.
Responsibilities of the Senior Chemist:
- Develop and improve cosmetic formulations, including emulsions, anhydrous systems, and powders.
- Mentor junior team members to ensure quality and timely lab work.
- Evaluate and implement new formulation technologies and raw materials, considering cost, compliance, and performance.
- Support client interactions, including troubleshooting and collaborative development.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and processing techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Conduct stability testing, formula adjustments, and documentation.
- Manage multiple projects, providing regular updates on progress and risks.
- Follow SOPs for formula creation and documentation.
- Use project management tools for clear communication and reporting.
- Support technical transfer for scale-up and production readiness.
- Maintain organized lab records and review progress with supervisors.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Chemist:
- 3+ years in cosmetic formulations, including emulsions, anhydrous, and powders, is required.
- Familiarity with raw materials, regulatory guidelines, and color cosmetics.
- Strong project management and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Chemist:
- Experience with product scale-up and innovation.
- Leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Client-facing technical support experience.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or another related scientific discipline is required.
