Salary/Hourly Rate:

$55k – $65k+ Depending on experience 

Position Overview:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for hands-on accounting and financial reporting for multiple HOA/COA associations, managing 100+ sets of books. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working within the general ledger, and skilled in financial reporting while also excelling in client-facing interactions. This position is an excellent opportunity for a professional seeking a long-term role with a direct path to leadership, ultimately being a key player in overseeing the accounting department.

Responsibilities of the Senior Staff Accountant:

  • Oversee HOA/COA financials, including budgeting, assessments, and reserve fund management.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, association bylaws, and financial reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with property managers, board members, and stakeholders on financial matters.
  • Lead audit preparations and liaise with external auditors.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
  • Mentor and assist in training junior accounting staff.

Required Experience & Skills for the Senior Staff Accountant:

  • 3 – 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Experience in financial statement preparation, budgeting, and audits.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other financial reporting tools (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Staff Accountant:

  • Experience managing or mentoring accounting is preferred but not required.
  • CPA or other relevant certification (or in progress) is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Florida HOA/COA regulations and best practices is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in property management accounting software (such as Yardi, CINC, or TOPS) is preferred but not required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
