Salary/Hourly Rate:
$100k – $130k + bonus
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Accountant with expertise in State and Local Tax (SALT) to join our dynamic finance team. This position will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our tax compliance and planning strategies across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate taxation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to navigate the complexities of state and local tax regulations.
Responsibilities of the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Lead the preparation and review of state and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing. Manage tax payments and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and enhance the company’s financial performance. Provide strategic advice on complex SALT issues.
- Assist in tax audits and inquiries from state and local tax authorities. Provide documentation and support to resolve any tax-related issues.
- Conduct thorough research on state and local tax statutes, regulations, and case law. Analyze the impact of legislative changes on the company’s operations.
- Ensure accurate tax provision calculations and disclosures for financial statements, in compliance with ASC 740.
- Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to provide tax guidance and support for business initiatives and transactions.
- Provide guidance and support to junior tax accountants, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Deep understanding of state and local tax regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with multi-state tax issues and nexus considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of tax compliance and reporting.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Tax Accountant:
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of corporate tax experience, with a focus on state and local tax (SALT).
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) is preferred.
