Our client is a mid-size global law firm. They are now looking for a Senior Technical Trainer.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$125k – $150k
Position Overview:
The Senior Technical Trainer designs and delivers onsite and virtual trainings for core and soft skills of the staff. This Senior Technical Trainer is a technical role and will require a technical skillset.
Responsibilities of the Senior Technical Trainer:
- Oversee and support the execution of technical training initiatives.
- Serve as a key point of contact between attorneys, staff, IT, and regional offices.
- Collaborate across departments and independently to design, standardize, and implement course outlines and training materials for both in-person and virtual learning, accessible across the New York and branch offices.
- Research, test, and introduce new software tools, providing training and guidance firmwide.
- Manage a technical training helpdesk and act as the subject matter expert on firm-standard applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Deliver engaging training sessions in classrooms, one-on-one formats, and remote environments.
- Design and lead training programs that leverage multiple learning platforms beyond traditional classroom instruction.
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluate training effectiveness against organizational requirements.
- Prepare, organize, and edit documentation, announcements, and guides related to software updates.
- Develop and communicate new training strategies and initiatives.
- Assist with the administration of the online training registration system and related databases.
- Support new-hire onboarding by coordinating technical assessments and evaluations.
- Create and maintain instructional content, including user guides, CBT modules, and online help tools.
- Provide advanced (“Tier 3”) support to PC Support and other teams, both technical and non-technical.
- Occasional travel to other firm offices as needed.
- Maintain compliance with firm information security protocols and report any concerns to management.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Technical Trainer:
- Minimum of 5 years in technical training or 8+ years of corporate training experience.
- Proven ability to design and implement training programs (Instructional Design expertise required).
- At least 5 years of professional technical writing for legal, corporate, or academic organizations (writing samples required).
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficiency with Camtasia or Captivate at an advanced level.
- Skilled in SharePoint or comparable website creation platforms.
- Experience managing projects, training initiatives, and focus groups.
- Strong record of producing high-quality documentation quickly and independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the firm.
- Ability to rapidly learn new software and manage tasks under tight timelines.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong service orientation.
- Experience designing and managing web pages.
- Familiarity with NetDocs.
- Knowledge of Legal Outline Numbering software.
- Advanced expertise in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience developing training eligible for CLE/CEU credit.
- Background in creating and/or delivering soft skills training.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of training and technical experience.
- Strong academic background preferred.
