Our client is a large scientific company with both labs and office space. They are a very polished and professional environment with a healthy working environment for its employees. The company has a diverse portfolio with clients in many industries and a variety of countries all over the world. Currently, they are looking to add a Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time) to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$30/hr – $32/hr

Position Overview:

The Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time) will work 20 hours a week to ensure that mail and products are properly labeled and shipped out, as well as ensure that mail is distributed internally. The Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time) will be handling some materials that are considered hazardous, so any HAZMAT experience is highly preferred. The Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time) will oversee the mail room for both the laboratory and administrative offices and may also take on some small maintenance tasks around the building (if able) on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities of the Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time):

  • The Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time) will manage day-to-day operations of the mailroom, including shipping, receiving, and distribution of packages. Utilize FedEx software.
  • Carry out basic facility upkeep tasks such as moving equipment, touch-up painting, simple plumbing, light replacement, minor carpentry, and general repairs using hand tools.
  • Partner with external contractors for larger-scale facility improvements and assist with sourcing required materials or equipment.
  • Perform routine safety checks, including emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and exit signage in accordance with life safety regulations.
  • Maintain inventory in the stockroom and track material usage to support operational needs.
  • Handle occasional shipments of laboratory hazardous materials, ensuring proper documentation and logging.
  • Consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental standards and protocols.
  • Participate in emergency response duties as needed, including after-hours on-call support.
  • Support additional projects or tasks as directed by management.

Required Experience/Skills for the Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time):

  • 2 years+ experience being responsible for shipping and receiving in a professional organization.
  • Friendly and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Comfort with basic Microsoft Office tasks including use of Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work a consistent, part-time schedule of 20 hours/week during normal business hours.

Preferred Experience/ Skills for the Shipping & Facilities Coordinator (Part-Time):

  • Experience with HAZMAT protocols is preferred.
  • Experience (personally or professionally) with light, general maintenance tasks is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • A GED or High school diploma is required.
