Our client is an established personal care company that creates a variety of specialty products with a focus on skincare. They are a very fast-paced and team-oriented group. The company has grown over the last few years and values its ability to pivot and evolve quickly. Currently, they are looking to add a Skincare Chemist to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50k – $65k
Position Overview:
The Skincare Chemist will formulate new skincare products from scratch. They will work in a high-energy environment and collaborate with other departments to ensure project completion. The Skincare Chemist will be in a team-oriented setting and will need to be open to quickly shifting their project focus when needed and supporting their fellow team members’ projects. This position would require relocation to Tennessee.
Responsibilities of the Skincare Chemist:
- The Skincare Chemist will be responsible for formulating new and improving updated products from serums and wrinkle creams to topical ointments.
- Conduct raw material evaluation and selection keeping in mind product quality and cost.
- Formulate and reformulate existing products identifying areas for enhancing the formula for the consumer and finding cost-effective directions for the company.
- Work cross-functionally and in a supportive manner with others on the small, closely-knit skincare team.
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and lab equipment. Maintain lab inventory as well as a clean and organized work environment.
- The Skincare Chemist will set a high standard for lab hygiene, safety, and compliance.
Qualifications for the Skincare Chemist:
- 1 – 3 years of experience in formulating skincare, OTC, cosmetics, or personal care products.
- The Skincare Chemist should have a strong knowledge of cosmetic raw materials.
- Experience formulating products from scratch.
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to relocate to Tennessee.
Education Requirements:
- The Skincare Chemist should have a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related science.
