Our client, a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meaningful community impact, is seeking a Staff Accountant (Part-Time) to join its growing Finance team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional seeking hands-on experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement within a mission-driven environment.

$28/hr

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant (Part-Time) will be responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining efficient accounts payable and expense management processes. The role offers the opportunity to start part-time (approximately three days per week) with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance and business needs. The ideal candidate will bring strong Excel skills, a solid understanding of debits and credits, and working knowledge of month-end close activities.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant (Part-Time):

  • Prepare and record journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Assist with month-end close, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Review and process accounts payable transactions and related documentation.
  • Support the maintenance of financial schedules and ledgers.
  • Assist in budget preparation and audit requests as needed.
  • Conduct internal financial training and provide general support to the finance department.
  • Utilize Excel for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all accounting activities.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant (Part-Time):

  • 1+ years of general accounting experience (journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs are required)
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, and general accounting principles.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant (Part-Time):

  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Background in nonprofit accounting or fund accounting.
  • Exposure to accounts payable or expense management systems.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related.
