Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will support a specialized branch of the organization’s office in Tampa with full-time, onsite accounting operations. This Staff Accountant role involves day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, billing, and financial reporting, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accounting team to ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting standards. A successful Staff Accountant will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end close procedures. The Staff Accountant will also assist with audit preparations and contribute to the ongoing development of accounting processes. This opportunity is ideal for a Staff Accountant seeking to grow in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The Staff Accountant must be comfortable working independently while also contributing to team-based initiatives. Ultimately, the Staff Accountant will be instrumental in ensuring the financial integrity of the Tampa office operations.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Accurately process accounts payable and receivable promptly.
  • Prepare and record cash receipts, including bank deposits.
  • Assemble client billing packages following contractual terms.
  • Support internal and external financial reporting by compiling necessary documentation.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to project teams as needed.
  • Perform clerical tasks and data entry to support accounting and operational functions.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Demonstrates eagerness to grow within the accounting profession, supported by a strong foundational understanding of accounting processes. 
  • Understanding of Excel (pivot tables, vlookups).  

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Applicable internship or 1 – 2 years of experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance, with experience in ledgers, cash flow, project forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis preferred but not required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
