Our client, a Bronx based construction company seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

Up to $75,000

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and supporting various accounting functions within the company. This Staff Accountant position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our projects and the overall growth of the organization.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Collaborate with project managers and other departments to track project costs, monitor budgets, and analyze variances
  • Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimize financial processes

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices is a plus

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred
