Client Overview:
Our client is a long-standing and prestigious higher education organization. As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Analyst who can work independently while also contributing to and helping lead a collaborative sourcing team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr – $37/hr
Position Overview:
The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be responsible for identifying university-wide sourcing opportunities, conducting detailed spend analysis, and recommending strategic initiatives to optimize resources. This role manages key supplier relationships to ensure quality, innovation, and value while implementing strategic sourcing methodologies across the institution. The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will lead or support RFx events, analyze bids, assist with contract negotiations, and develop reporting to track savings and sourcing performance. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities of the Strategic Sourcing Analyst:
- Identify and evaluate university-wide sourcing opportunities through data analysis and market research.
- Conduct detailed spend analysis and develop insights to support strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Lead or coordinate RFx events (RFI, RFP, RFQ), including bid analysis and supplier evaluations.
- Support contract negotiations in collaboration with category managers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop reports and dashboards to track savings, performance metrics, and sourcing outcomes.
- Manage and evaluate supplier relationships to ensure quality, value, and continuous improvement.
- Benchmark procurement practices against industry standards and best practices.
- Execute special strategic sourcing projects to drive cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with university objectives.
Required Experience/Skills for the Strategic Sourcing Analyst:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible strategic sourcing experience.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience working with statistical and financial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong data analysis capability.
- Experience using Oracle, JAGGAER (SciQuest), or similar ERP/procurement systems to run sourcing events.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Strategic Sourcing Analyst:
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced experience working with Oracle or similar enterprise systems.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Sourcing, or a related field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (degree may substitute for up to two years of experience).
