Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator who will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role includes managing servers (Windows and Linux), firewalls & networks desktop support, and Microsoft 365 technologies like Azure Resources, M365, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, etc. The System Administrator ensures that IT systems are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.
Responsibilities of the Systems Administrator:
- Server Management
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
- Monitor server performance and ensure system availability.
- Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Network Management
- Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Ensure network security through firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations and changes.
- Desktop Support
- Supervise and support Desktop Support Technicians (Levels 2 – 3).
- Provide escalation support for complex technical issues.
- Ensure timely resolution of hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
- Maintain inventory and documentation of IT assets.
Required Experience for the Systems Administrator:
- 5+ years of experience in system and network administration.
- Certifications such as MCSA and CCNA are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments, networking protocols, etc.
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, etc.
- Strong Knowledge of Security for Users/Data/Cloud Resources.
- Strong Knowledge of Firewalls and networking devices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Travel to the office 4 days a week – Mail office is based in Holmdel, with occasional travel to our other NJ office locations and NYC location.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other IT equipment.
- Occasional lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals, up to 25 pounds.
- Visual acuity is required to read detailed information on screens and printed documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and end-users in person, over the phone, and via email.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
