Client Overview:

For over 63 years, our client’s company has transformed the lives of children through one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Serving nearly 3,000 children across 12 metro Atlanta counties each year, this company is committed to empowering youth and strengthening communities through impactful mentorship and engagement. Currently, they are expanding their team and are seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60/hr (Temporary position through year-end)

Position Overview:

The Temporary Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department by performing essential accounting and reporting functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This position maintains general ledger accounts, prepares financial reports, supports grant accounting, and assists with audits and budgeting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and experienced in nonprofit or fund accounting. This is a temporary full-time position through year-end. Standard office hours are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Responsibilities of the Temporary Staff Accountant:

  • Accounting & Reporting:
    • Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
    • Manage and support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll-related entries.
    • Assist with internal financial statements and external audit schedules.
    • Support monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate transaction recording.
    • Maintain internal controls and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Grant & Fund Management:
    • Track, reconcile, and report on grant-related income and expenditures.
    • Ensure proper use of grant funds in accordance with donor and funding requirements.
    • Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure accurate reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Budgeting & Analysis:
    • Assist with annual operating budget and monthly variance reporting.
    • Provide analytical support for forecasts and management reports.
    • Support long-range planning and cost analysis initiatives.
  • Audit & Compliance:
    • Assist in preparing documentation for annual audits.
    • Maintain financial records in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.
  • Other Duties:
    • Support process improvements and financial system updates.
    • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

Required Experience/Skills for the Temporary Staff Accountant:

  • 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and professional integrity.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temporary Staff Accountant:

  • Experience in nonprofit or fund accounting.
  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
  • Familiarity with grant reporting and fund management.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
