Our client, a U.S.-based women’s apparel and accessories organization, is expanding their in-house Design team and seeking an experienced Women’s Accessories Designer. The company operates with a centralized corporate office and designs products for a broad, lifestyle-focused customer across multiple categories.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
Up to $120k plus Annual bonus eligibility
Position Overview:
The Women’s Accessories Designer will lead the design and development of women’s accessories with an initial focus on handbags as the core category. The Women’s Accessories Designer will own the creative process from concept through production and support the expansion of a growing accessories business. Additional categories may be added over time as the assortment evolves. Relocation assistance is available for this role.
Responsibilities of the Women’s Accessories Designer:
- Design seasonal handbag collections from concept through production.
- Establish handbags as the anchor category for accessories design direction.
- Conceptualize materials, silhouettes, trims, and hardware.
- Develop design concepts that align with the overall product direction.
- Create and maintain detailed design files, specs, and tech documentation.
- Participate in sample reviews and prototype evaluations.
- Partner cross-functionally throughout the development process.
- Conduct trend, market, and material research relevant to accessories.
- Support and guide a junior team member.
- Present design work to internal stakeholders.
Required Experience/Skills for the Women’s Accessories Designer:
- 6+ years of accessories design experience.
- Proven expertise in handbag or leather goods design.
- Strong understanding of materials, construction, and functionality.
- Ability to design custom hardware and trims.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Women’s Accessories Designer:
- Experience expanding or building an accessories category.
- Background in lifestyle or contemporary accessories.
- Experience working within lean design teams.
- Open to relocation if not local.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or a related field is preferred.
