Client Overview:

Our client, a global retail and consumer goods organization, is seeking a Retail Accounting Analyst to support its finance team. Known for its dynamic environment and international reach, the company offers opportunities to grow while working alongside experienced finance professionals in a collaborative setting.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$70k – $75k

Position Overview:

The Retail Accounting Analyst will handle general accounting activities, with a strong emphasis on month-end close in SAP, inventory reconciliations, and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting. This role is best suited for candidates with recent SAP experience and a background in retail or consumer goods accounting.

Responsibilities of the Retail Accounting Analyst:

  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations during monthly and annual close using SAP.
  • Review and reconcile inventory balances; ensure accuracy of COGS and related accounts.
  • Investigate discrepancies and prepare variance analyses for management.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packages with commentary on financial movements.
  • Partner with operations to validate inventory reporting and support revenue recognition.
  • Monitor overhead spending and compare actuals to budget.
  • Manage accrual processes, including A&P, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Retail Accounting Analyst:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with recent SAP month-end close.
  • Strong background in retail/consumer goods accounting (COGS and inventory focus).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
  • Ability to work in a mid- to large-sized corporate environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Retail Accounting Analyst:

  • Experience with Power BI and PowerPoint for reporting and analysis.
  • Exposure to global accounting operations and multi-entity consolidations.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
