Our client, a leading contract manufacturer specializing in the formulation, development, and production of personal care products and cosmetic is looking for a Chemist (Formulation) with 1 year of formulation experience to join their growing team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60k

Position Overview:

Working under the supervision of the Lab Manager, the Chemist (Formulation) will prepare formulations, conduct routine and non-routine laboratory testing, support troubleshooting efforts, and ensure compliance with cGMP, safety, and regulatory standards. This position requires 1 year of experience as a Chemist in the personal care, beauty, or related industry. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be available to start as soon as possible. Relocation assistance is not available, so local candidates are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities of the Chemist (Formulation):

  • Prepare, create, and execute formulation batch sheets for development and production.
  • Perform routine and non-routine testing of batches and finished products to identify quality and stability issues.
  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with cGMP, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Compile ingredient lists, key benefits, standards, and specifications for products, processes, and testing.
  • Troubleshoot batching and filling issues and support production problem resolution.
  • Conduct stability testing to monitor physical and chemical characteristics of aerosol products.
  • Investigate customer complaints and review customer artwork for technical accuracy.
  • Create and maintain GHS Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for developed products.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation in cGMP lab notebooks and reports.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, customers, and external partners while reporting progress and results to management.

Required Experience/Skills for the Chemist (Formulation):

  • Experience working in a lab with a personal care product or cosmetic company.
  • 1+ years of formulation experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience complying with cGMP regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical aptitude, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Chemist (Formulation):

  • Interest in cosmetics or personal care products.

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry is required.
