Our client, a leading global fundraising organization specializing in providing innovative solutions for nonprofits, charities, and mission-driven organizations, is looking to add a Controller to the team. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100k-$110k

Position Overview:

The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the dynamic and rapidly growing fundraising organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the financial reporting processes, as well as providing strategic guidance to support the company’s mission and objectives.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, providing actionable insights to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Lead the annual external audit process, liaising with external auditors and addressing any audit findings or recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and proactively assess their impact on financial operations, providing recommendations for compliance as needed.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to develop and monitor annual operating budgets and forecasts, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and expansion into new markets.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to evaluate business performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications for the Controller:

  • Proven experience as a Controller, or a senior financial leadership role, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve excellence.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
